The inside is glazed for easy cleaning, and the outside is unglazed black stoneware. The unglazed clay does build up a bit of a tea patina over time, but a scrub with baking soda once every few months keeps mine looking clean (I've had it for years). \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003eThe top of the tray is a little over 8.5\" across at its widest point. The usable surface area is 7.25\" across.
